Amy Delaney is an Assistant Professor of Communication, teaching coursework in interpersonal and family communication, health communication, and several courses for students studying public relations. As a teacher, Amy works to help students see connections between communication theory and research in their everyday conversations and relationships. Her teaching methods are rooted in enriching students' academic, professional, and personal lives by offering opportunities to build skills, think theoretically, and apply scholarship. In her research, she focuses on the interpersonal dynamics of couples and families as they encounter challenging health situations, such as depression, cancer, and sexual problems. She has presented research at several national conferences and has been published in Communication Monographs, Health Communication, and Journal of Social and Personal Relationships. Amy completed her BA and MA at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (2007; 2009) and her PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2016).
