Millikin University, Richland Community College announce reverse transfer agreement

Millikin president Patrick White and Richland president Gayle Saunders shake hands after signing agreement

Millikin University and Richland Community College have announced a reverse transfer agreement that will benefit students who transfer from Richland to Millikin before earning their associate degree. The agreement takes effect starting the 2015-16 academic year.

The agreement allows credits completed at Millikin University to be transferred back to the student's Richland transcript to complete requirements for an associate degree. The agreement makes it easier for Richland students to begin study at Millikin sooner without forgoing the opportunity to earn a degree at Richland.

"Millikin University and Richland Community College have long been close partners in the success of our students," said Millikin University President Dr. Patrick White. "This reverse transfer agreement further extends that partnership to better serve Richland students who decide to further their education at Millikin. Richland Community College and Millikin University both benefit from this agreement because our students are able to gain and utilize the full credit for their learning at both institutions. We all get stronger when our students prosper."

Students enrolled at Millikin University who previously attended Richland Community College, or are currently enrolled at Richland and acquired a minimum of 15 credit hours, may be eligible for reverse transfer credit toward a Richland associate degree.

For Richland students admitted to and enrolled at Millikin with a minimum of 15 transfer credits, Millikin will notify those students who previously attended Richland but never completed their associate degree about the agreement.

"The mission, vision, and core values of Richland Community College and Millikin University allow for strong partnership opportunities," said Richland Community College President Dr. Gayle Saunders. "When we work together we are able to accelerate learning for our students; and we can add depth and breadth to our community impact."
