Millikin Performance Learning: Jacob Hamilton '19

Millikin University student-athlete Jacob Hamilton, a sophomore chemistry major from Swansea, Ill., and a member of the Millikin Men's Tennis team, chose to attend Millikin to continue his athletic career but he also wanted to succeed academically.

Hamilton is coming off a successful first season with the Millikin Men's Tennis program. He recorded a 19-4 record, surpassing the Millikin record for singles wins in a season. Hamilton was also named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Tennis Player of the Week on March 2.

"The coaching staff knew what an accomplished doubles player Jacob was in high school," said Millikin Head Men's Tennis Coach Dustin Forman. "However, what has impressed the staff the most is the improvement Jacob has shown in his singles play. We are all looking forward to seeing what Jacob can do for the Big Blue in future years."

A Presidential Scholar at Millikin University, Hamilton sees Performance Learning as a way to apply what is learned in the classroom to real-life situations.

"Being a student-athlete and full-time student has taught me to work hard," Hamilton said. "Millikin has provided me a well-rounded setting."
