Dr. J. Mark Munoz to be honored as 2016 AGBA Distinguished Business Dean
Dr. J. Mark Munoz, interim dean of the Tabor School of Business at Millikin University, has been invited to deliver a keynote address at the 2016 Academy for Global Business Advancement (AGBA) World Congress on Nov. 26-27 at Universitas Sebelas Maret in Surakarta (SOLO) Central Java, Indonesia.
Dr. Munoz will be one of four distinguished speakers at the 13th annual conference. The theme for this year's conference is "Business and Entrepreneurship Development in a Globalized Era." The conference provides a unique global platform and a forum to facilitate the exchange of leading ideas for effective advancement of academic scholarship in business and entrepreneurship development.
"I am delighted and honored to be asked to deliver the keynote speech during the AGBA's 13th Annual World Congress," Dr. Munoz said. "AGBA is a true global organization that brings together academics and business executives united in a common cause of promoting global business thinking. In line with the theme 'Business and Entrepreneurship in a Globalized Era,' I plan to speak about entrepreneurship in the academe and how educational institutions can become more entrepreneurial."
In addition to his speaking engagement at the conference, Dr. Munoz will be recognized as the 2016 AGBA Distinguished Business Dean. The Distinguished Business Dean recognition is based on a careful selection and deliberation process by the AGBA's Global Board of Trustees. The Board is comprised of highly respected academic members, administrators and business executives from various parts of the world.
"Criteria for the selection include administrative acumen, integrity, institutional internationalization and citizenship, expansion of the knowledge and practice of global business, and a role model for young faculty, business deans and administrators worldwide," said AGBA President Dr. Zafar U. Ahmed. "Dr. Munoz is actively engaged in international faculty recruitment and mentoring and is enthusiastically engaged in professional networking with business professors and administrators worldwide. He actively promotes international dual degree business programs which supports AGBA's mission of advancing global business."
In reference to his speaking engagement, Dr. Ahmed says, "Dr. Munoz's accomplishments in both teaching and scholarship is truly remarkable and in line with the world's best educators. His latest edited book, 'Strategies for University Management,' offers innovative ideas for academic institutions worldwide. The fact that the book incorporates the viewpoints of academics and administrators from all over the world makes it very relevant to the AGBA's mission."
"Being named the 2016 AGBA Distinguished Business Dean was a big surprise," Dr. Munoz said. "I hope this recognition brings additional honor to Millikin and helps enhance the University's brand. I am grateful to President Patrick White, Provost Jeff Aper, Dean Randy Brooks, Dean Deb Slayton and Dean Laura Ledford for providing me with guidance and support. The students, faculty and staff at Millikin have been a daily source of inspiration. I honestly don't think this award belongs to me, it belongs to the Tabor School of Business and Millikin University."
The Academy for Global Business Advancement is a worldwide network of professionals committed to facilitate dissemination of scholarly research findings in the field of business and entrepreneurship development. The main purpose of AGBA is to provide an ongoing open forum to discuss and analyze business and entrepreneurship development from different perspectives and viewpoints in order to improve understanding of underlying forces that impact global developments and shape the destiny of developing countries.
