"The Big Blue community is in this together."

Classes are underway for the fall 2021 semester at Millikin University. The start of a new academic year is always a special time at Millikin, with new students and faculty, new relationships, new scholarship and engagement beginning again after the summer months.

The following is a welcome back message from Millikin President Dr. Jim Reynolds.

Hello to all of you!

It is my pleasure to welcome our new students and returning students as well as our faculty and staff to campus for the fall 2021 semester.

This time of year marks the beginning of a new journey for our first-year students, and a new beginning for faculty and staff members committed to our mission of Performance Learning. I want to take a moment to thank our staff and faculty for their hard work as they have spent many hours preparing for the fall semester. Together, we will continue to navigate this pandemic, and each decision will be made with the well-being of our campus community in mind.

For students, it is important for you to know that the entire Millikin community is here to support you however we can, whether it's helping you transition to a new home and learn about the many resources available, or just to have a conversation about things happening in your life. Each one of us has a job title, but our support reaches far beyond those duties. The Big Blue community is in this together.

We are so excited to see you back on campus because our students are what make Millikin such a thriving and unique University. Your sense of community and inclusivity among your fellow students and community members make our University more than an institution of learning, but a place you can be proud to call home … now and after graduation.

I am proud to see how our students have continued to succeed in their academic endeavors despite the recent challenges. Your ability to overcome obstacles, both expected and unexpected, demonstrates both your strength and versatility. This ability to adapt to constant changes in your learning and living environment will help you succeed in not only your academic future but also your personal future.

I hope you will join me in greeting the new academic year with excitement and with the opportunity to support one another and Millikin's mission with a continued commitment to keeping our community safe.

We look forward to a great semester at Millikin. Go Big Blue.
