4th Annual True Blue Scholarship Challenge

True Blue Scholarship Challenge

On Thursday, May 4, Millikin University's spring True Blue Scholarship Challenge will mark its fourth year helping make MU student journeys possible through scholarship support. This year's fundraising blitz campaign seeks 1,000 donors to contribute a gift of any size in just one day. If the 1,000 donor goal is met, an anonymous donor will contribute an additional $100,000 to support MU student scholarships.

On that day, the campus community, alumni and friends of Millikin are encouraged to wear blue in support of the scholarship challenge. In addition, a Big Blue Bash will be held on the Miller Quad from 4-6 p.m. to recognize donors and promote MU pride. Free shaved ice, other giveaways and donor door prize drawings will be featured. Millikin supporters are invited to attend.

Out of the more than 2,200 full- and part-time undergraduate students attending Millikin, 99 percent rely on some type of financial aid to attend the university. Annually, Millikin distributes nearly $36 million – more than half of the university's annual operating budget – in scholarships to students. These scholarships are awarded to students based on academic merit, talent and financial need.

"Without the merit- and talent-based scholarships I received, I wouldn't have been able to afford MU," says MU junior Justin Debo '18, a double major in information systems and music business, about his Millikin journey. "When I graduate, I firmly believe I will be able to say I became the person I am thanks to Millikin."

Gifts to the True Blue Scholarship Challenge may be made at, by phone at 217.424.6383 or delivered to the Alumni and Development Center, Millikin University, 1184 West Main Street, Decatur, IL 62522.
