Millikin student shares past and current theatre experiences
Millikin University first-year musical theatre major Thomas Ferro of Mundelein, Ill., was recently featured in the Mundelein Review discussing his previous theatre experiences at Mundelein High School and his current experiences on the Millikin campus.
Ferro recently portrayed the character Charlie in the Mundelein High School theater department's 2014 production of David Schwimmer's play "Trust."
"I'm a freshman at Millikin University in Decatur, and I'm working toward a bachelor of fine arts in musical theatre," Ferro said. "I've always wanted to go into theatre since I was a little kid, but what really set me on course was when I was a sophomore in high school and we did a show called 'Trust,' which was about cyber safety and sexual assault, two things that are very prevalent in today's society."
Ferro was recently cast in the Millikin production of "The Undeniable Sound of Right Now," by Laura Eason. The performance was produced by Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre, Millikin's student-run theatre company.
"I played Joey, the landlord and antagonist of the story, and I understudied Hank, who was the main character," Ferro said.
Ferro is also under consideration for the ensemble and an understudy in a production of "Sweeney Todd" at the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, which takes place in July.
