A nexus of sound, light, space, and movement, this concert of a variety of dance styles is sure to engage and inspire dance enthusiasts. These original works test the boundaries of the human body and its ability to communicate.

Other shows include Thoroughly Modern Millie (Buck Creek Playhouse); Crazy for You, Curtains, and Young Frankenstein (Footlite Musicals).

 

Time Brickey

Choreographing: Isn't It Lovely?  &  Goodbye, Pork Pie Hat

Time Brickey is a Music Business major at Millikin University and a Chicago-based Tap Dancer. As an apprentice with M.A.D.D. Rhythms, Time has learned from greats such as Jumaane Taylor and Star Dixon. He has had the opportunity to perform with and for the Chicago Human Rhythm Project, most recently in their tribute to Billy Strayhorn at the historic Jazz Showcase, where he was described by the Chicago Tribune to be “a literal loose cannon.” This is Time’s second and final Dance Concert at Millikin.

Darius Lee was last seen on the Millikin Mainstage in The Addams Family and Peter Pan. At the Nashville Children's Theatre, Darius was seen in Avenue Q, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Godspell. Additional credits include: Urinetown (Governor's School) and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Nashville School of the Arts).

 

Ben Locke

Senior BA Theatre and Human Services

Ben’s recent credits include Legally Blonde (Grandmaster Chad/Ensemble), Peter Pan (Twin 2), and The World Goes ‘Round (Swing). Ben has also been involved in Millikin Children Shows such as The Plant that Ate Dirty Socks (Fluffy) and Miss Electricity (Owl). At Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre, he performed in Dog Sees God (Matt) and directed A Queer Carol. This is Ben’s second time in Dance Concert and his first time choreographing.

 

Andrea Muhlbauer

Choreographing: Interlude I  &  The Good Life

Andrea recently choreographed Millikin University's Children’s Show Umbrella Escapades and Pipe Dreams Studio Theater's production of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. Over the summer, she worked as an Administrative Intern and Interim Marketing Assistant at Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company in Salt Lake City, Utah and was previously a dance instructor at the Decatur Park District. Andrea is currently developing a unique method of choreography in an independent study with Denise Myers.

 

Lexis Danca

Lexis was most recently seen as Morticia in The Addams Family on the Millikin Mainstage. Over the summer, she was seen as a member of the Resident Company at Music Theatre Wichita. Other Millikin Mainstage credits include The World Goes ‘Round, Peter Pan, Legally Blonde, Cinderella, String, and Machinal. Additional credits include An Evening with Andrew Lippa at Millikin University and the workshop of Salzman and Cunningham’s The Legend of New York.

Angela Fleddermann Miller

Director/Choreographer

Angela Fleddermann Miller has worked with choreographers including David Parsons, David Dorfman, and Patrick Corbin, in addition to choreographing and performing her own work in New York City.  While in New York she was a member of the Amy Marshall Dance Company and Peter Pucci Plus Dancers.  She performed with Disney and The MUNY in St. Louis. Choreography credits include Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and The Music Man at the Great Plains Theatre Festival, and L’Histoire du Soldat and A Chorus Line at the University of Illinois. She has performed with David Parker and the Bang Group and with her own company, Trashcake Dance-Theatre.  She has studied on scholarship at Steps on Broadway and at the Joffrey Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, and Paul Taylor Schools.  She holds a BFA in Dance from Webster University and an MFA in Dance Choreography and Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Angela is currently Assistant Professor of Theatre and Dance at Millikin University.  Her most recent Millikin projects include the direction and choreography of Legally Blonde and Peter Pan.

 

 

Sean T. Morrissey

Sean T. Morrissey was the recipient of the Times Newspaper’s Outstanding Choreography award for his work on the Porthouse Theatre production of Dames at Sea and the Connecticut Critics Circle Best Choreographer Award for his work on the Candlewood Playhouse production of West Side Story. As a director/choreographer, Sean’s work includes Sweet Smell of SuccessLucky Stiff, Sweet Charity, Me and My Girl, No No Nanette, SugarDamn Yankees, Guys and Dolls, My Favorite Year, Kiss Me Kate, Drowsy Chaperone, The World Goes 'Round, and Grand Hotel. Other choreography credits include Carousel, The Merry Widow, Brigadoon, Pippin, Pump Boys and Dinettes, and Cabaret. In addition to musicals, Sean has choreographed 21 concert works for the Millikin stage. As a performer, Sean appeared in the original Broadway cast of the Alan Menken and Lynn Ahrens production of A Christmas Carol featuring choreography by Tony Award winner, Susan Stroman, the European tour of 42nd Street, the Vienna company of West Side Story, the Asian tour of South Pacific, and regional productions of Cabaret, Me and My Girl, Big River, Anything Goes, Singin’ In the Rain, Oklahoma! and Gypsy. Sean is a graduate of Syracuse University and a proud member of Actors Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA.

Jana is Associate Professor/Costume Director for the Department of Theatre & Dance. Selected professional credits include costume work for Universal Pictures, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, The Kansas City Ballet, The Station Theatre, and The Little Theatre on the Square. Jana earned her MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  She has been designing for Millikin since 1999.

 

Matt Albrecht

Matt Albrecht is a lighting designer from Madison, WI. Matt has had the opportunity to work in theaters across the United States. Some of his design highlights include The Greeks (Madison Repertory Theatre), The Water Engine (University Theatre), Into the Woods (Houston's Center Stage Theatre), The Temperamentals (Celebration Theatre), and Annie (Madison Theatre Guild). Matt has also had the opportunity to work with Peninsula Players in Door County, WI. Matt is thrilled to be in his third year at Millikin as the newest member of the Design Tech Faculty.

 

Mary M. Black

Mary Black is Assistant Professor/Technical Director for the Department of Theatre and Dance. Recent Millikin credits include Lighting Design for Rough Magic, Scenic Designer and Technical Director for Peter Pan, The Ladies Man, Legally Blonde: The Musical, and String. Previous design credits include Rent and Hamlet for the Station Theatre and several productions for the Decatur Park District Best of Summer Stock program.  Previous technical credits include work for Indiana University’s Opera and Theatre programs, Iowa Summer Repertory Theatre, Brown County Playhouse, and University of Iowa’s Opera and Theatre programs. Mary earned her MFA in Technical Theatre from Indiana University.

Therese is currently designing her first Mainstage production (Blood Wedding) to be featured in the spring. Solstice: A Concert of Dance (2013) was her first lighting design and inspired her love for the art form. This semester Therese has worked as the Master Electrician to Millikin's Production of The Addams Family and the Master Electrician/Designer of a devised children's theatre piece, Umbrella Escapades. She looks forward to working on the opera, The Magic Pinafore, and implementing her design for Blood Wedding next semester.
