Sami Steigmann

Millikin University is pleased to welcome Holocaust Survivor Sami Steigmann to present the 2023 Ewing Lecture on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m. The presentation will take place in the Bob and Debi Johnston Banquet Rooms located on the third floor of the University Commons on Millikin’s campus. The event is made possible by the Thomas W. Ewing Lecture Fund and is free and open to the public.

Steigmann’s presentation, “Holocaust: My Story of Resilience,” will recall the story of Steigmann’s survival and experiences, along with his fresh perspective on hope, life, faith and how he was able to transform himself from a victim into a speaker and agent for social action. Steigmann is dedicated to reaching as many young people as possible to promote tolerance and in hopes that they will make a better world for themselves, their children and grandchildren.

Millikin University is also hosting Steigmann for the week of January 31 to February 5, allowing Steigmann to give his presentation at five schools while he is in Decatur. Millikin has partnered with the Regional Office of Education, The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and the Decatur Public LIbrary to make these opportunities possible.
