Frank Lloyd Wright: Imperial Hotel Exhibit
Exhibit will run Oct 1-Nov 30, 2018 in Perkinson Art Gallery in Kirkland Fine Arts Center
Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 12:00-5:00 pm
The exhibit will feature artifacts, furniture, ephemera and period photographs representing the history of one of Frank Lloyd Wright's most famous buildings. In 1919, construction began on the hotel in Tokyo. On April 26, 1922 the structure withstood a (6.8) earthquake. The design is considered a Mayan Revival Style with blocks carved from local oya stone. Wright leveraged the survival of the building throughout his career. It has historically been noted as being one of his earliest crowning successes.
Artist reception will be Thursday, October 4, 2018, 5-7:00 pm in Perkinson Art Gallery
This event is free and open to the public.
