Position Title:  Part-time Advanced Practice Nurse/Nurse Practitioner (Millikin Student Health Clinic)

Department:  Student Affairs

FLSA Category:  Non-Exempt


Working Relationships: Millikin Student Health Clinic Team, Student Wellness Services, Hospital partners

  • Reports to:           Student Wellness Services/Hospital Partner


  • Works Closely With:      Students, faculty, staff, local community, parents, families


  • Directly Supervises:      None



Job Summary:  Reporting duly to a third-party hospital partner and Millikin University, the part-time Nurse Practitioner/APRN provides urgent care, health assessments, diagnosis and treatment in a college health clinic setting. This role is a part-time, renewable, and at will position. We are seeking APRNs with the ability to work between one and three, four hour shifts at the Millikin Student Health Clinic. This opportunity provides up to 12 hours per week at the hourly rate of $50/hour, paid bi-weekly. Benefits are not included in this opportunity.



Primary Responsibilities:

The APRN is responsible for the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

  • Responsible for providing comprehensive health care to primarily the emerging adult population.
  • Education of and effective communication with the patient and family served concerning the diagnoses and treatment plan of their medical condition, appropriate preventative measures, and use of the health care system.
  • Provide well and acute care visits in collaboration with other members of our Student Wellness Services team.
  • Appropriate, accurate and complete health histories and medical records entries.
  • Adequate and appropriate transfer of information when clients are transferred to another health care provider.
  • Provide students with health education, wellness, health promotion and risk reduction education.
  • Devise, implement and evaluate plans of care utilizing sound clinical judgments based on assessment of the physical, psychological, emotional, societal, and environmental needs of the clients.
  • Assist individuals to assume responsibility for the restoration of health, and prevention of illness.
  • Consult, refer and collaborate with other disciplines involved in the delivery of total patient care including counseling and physician specialists.
  • Utilize the resources of the college community and the surrounding community area.
  • Promote collegial relationships with other clinical staff and providers connected to the clinic.
  • Attend Student Wellness Services staff meetings and local in-service offerings, as needed and appropriate.
  • Serve as a role model for students.


Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Master’s degree in nursing or other health related field recognized for certification as a nurse practitioner. FNP preferred.
  • License to practice as a registered nurse in the state of IL.
  • License to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse in the state of IL.
  • Complete screening, certification, and EPIC training with hospital partner.

  • Dexterity to operate a keyboard.

Physical Effort:

  • Typically sitting at a desk or table
  • Occasionally lifting 25 lbs. or less
  • Hearing and visual acuity within normal range.

Working Conditions:

  • Typical working conditions found in most administrative work areas.
  • Some evening and weekends hours may be necessary with flex utilized during the work week.
