Millikin University School of Music invites applications for a full time faculty or clinical faculty position in Music Business beginning August 2017.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:  Earned doctorate, MBA, or master’s degree preferred, bachelor’s degree considered, with knowledge of music business and relevant, demonstrated experience in the music industry.

Responsibilities:  Maintain a full teaching and service load in the Music Industry Studies program, running and growing the departmental record label, First Step Records, topics courses in music marketing and legal issues, overseeing the Music Business capstone project, internships, and the Music Industry Seminar.  Contribution to delivering the educational mission of the university and the School of Music through participation in committees.

The desired candidates would: have teaching experience to go along with their music business experience; demonstrate an affinity for teamwork - especially with colleagues within the Music Industry Studies area; have the ability to collaborate effectively with areas and personnel outside of the School of Music, including WJMU, the Center for Entrepreneurship, Kirkland Fine Arts Center, and other programs within the College of Fine Arts; care deeply about student learning while engaging the Millikin University core teaching value of Performance Learning; and a willingness to grow into the position and make it their own by virtue of their personal vision. 

Skills in the following areas will be given strong consideration:

Experience in current and cutting edge practices in the music industry, especially as it pertains to shaping First Step Records
IT/LAN Network experience
Tour Production/booking
Artist management
Proven DIY record label/radio/podcast etc.
Web design/social media in regards to marketing and promotions
