Millikin University’s School of Education offers a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree, designed for individuals seeking to obtain an initial Illinois teaching license through the completion of graduate study. The degree program is open to all career-seeking professionals who have completed their undergraduate studies in academic areas other than education.

Illinois is experiencing a teacher shortage, so students need dedicated, enthusiastic teachers now more than ever. We invite future educators to make an investment in themselves and the world around them by learning more about Millikin University’s Master of Arts in Teaching degree. Cohorts will begin wach fall semester, with graduation being in the spring semester of year two. 

**Implementation of the Master of Arts in Teaching degree is anticipated for fall 2022, pending approval by the University, Illinois State Board of Education and the Higher Learning Commission.
