Art & Film in Latin America

Oct. 10-Nov. 30 , 2022 (no meeting 11/23)

Taught by Millikin Adjunct Professor Luis Peralta, the course will cover the most important and outstanding examples of fine arts in Latin America. Students will receive a solid grounding in the history that influenced each work, as well as influences and trends that have affected fine art in Latin America in recent years. The course will impart a broad understanding of the artists, authors, and filmmakers of Latin America and engage with their influence at home and in the wider world.

Music & Movement

Session II: Saturdays, Oct. 8-Nov. 12 , 2022


Ages: Infants through preschool 

Students will explore the art of composition and improvisation using traditional classroom instruments, such as xylophones, drums and bells. Students will work cooperatively to create compositions inspired by literature in addition to learning several arrangements. Tuition includes a t-shirt and daily snack.


Fee: $40
-Infants to 24 months: 9-9:40 a.m.
-24 months to 4 years old: 9:45-10:25 a.m.

Mat Pilates

Session I:
-Thursdays, Sept. 8-Nov. 17 at 8 a.m. (no class 10/20)
-Sundays, Sept. 11-Nov. 13 at 4 p.m.

10 week course offered in 50 minute sessions. Classes will be taught by certified Pilates instructor and Millikin student Hannah Magy. Mat Pilates is suited for all fitness levels and focuses on building a strong, balanced body while increasing flexibility. As you progress in your practice you will notice improvements in breathing, focus, stress management, and body awareness. Mat Pilates requires a mat and comfortable clothing..


Fee: $60 or $10 drop-in fee if room. Space is limited.

Millikin Children’s Choir

Ages: Students entering grades K-6

Fall 2022 placement interviews will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022. Rehearsals are Sept. 13-Dec. 6, 2022 and will culminate in a concert on Dec. 6, 2022. No rehearsal is held Nov. 22, 2022. More information coming soon! Location: Perkinson Music Center at Millikin University.



MCAA Theatre Class

MCAA Theatre Program partners with Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre and offers theatre programs for youth of all ages and abilities to grow as artists and innovators. Two sessions of 6 week-classes are offered for pre-school-aged and kindergarten through 2nd graders, and one 8-week session offered for 3rd-8th graders.

Pre-School (ages 3-5)
Saturdays, 9-9:30 a.m.

Session II: Saturday, Oct.-Nov. 19, 2022

In these drop-off classes, students work together to create stories, generate new ideas, develop relationships while building upon others’ ideas and enter the world of make believe. Our teachers lead students through an exploration of a story or concept, followed by mini lessons in drama, art, song, instrument play or movement to bring the story or concept to life. Through the use of music, movement and dramatic play, these classes ignite your child’s imagination while flexing their problem-solving, language and physical skills.

Kindergarten-2nd Grade
Saturdays, 9:45-10:30 a.m.

Session II: Saturday, Oct.-Nov. 19, 2022

Students participate in themed Creative Drama classes using drama, music, movement and visual art to explore the fun of creating characters and the art of storytelling. Books and songs are used as springboards for students to explore characters through structured, creative and fun activities culminating in short scenes or skits created by the students. Classes promote confidence, self-esteem and creative expression while working on skills such as active listening and collaboration.

Grades 3-8
Saturdays, 1-4:00 p.m.

Saturday Sept. 24-Nov. 19, 2022

Students work in small grade groupings to explore more formal technique in acting and improvisation and will explore a process of three-dimensional characters and truthful actions for the stage. Classes utilize theatre games, guided improvisation activities and scene work to develop characterization and script analysis skills. The program culminates in a performance for family and friends on Nov. 19, 2022.

Community Percussion Ensemble

Sundays, Sept. 11-Dec. 11, 2022 (no class 10/16 or 11/27)

Ages: All ages are welcome with one year minimum of playing experience

The Millikin Percussion Ensemble, MCPE, is an ensemble open to all percussionists ages 5th grade and older who are interested in a group musical experience. This 10-week course welcomes percussionists of all performance levels with at least one year of playing experience. MCPE will rehearse and perform pieces written and arranged for percussionist ensembles in a variety of styles. This group provides percussionists the opportunity to play together, develop ensemble skills and advance their individual playing levels in a fun and relaxed environment. The 10-week session culminates in a holiday concert on Dec. 11 at 5:00 p.m.

Community Group Piano Class

Tuesdays, Sept. 15-Nov. 15, 2022 from 7:15-8:30 p.m.

Ages: 16 and older

Come join our Community Group Piano classes for adults ages 16+. This is a wonderful opportunity for beginner students who would like to develop their piano skills in a non-stressful environment. This class involves group instruction for those who have little or no previous experience playing the piano. Students develop basic music reading skills and playing techniques. Materials are structured for the beginner level of study. Class is taught by Assistant Professor of Music, Pei-I Wang. Class will include learning classical, holiday music, to pop music and will culminate in a performance with a potluck celebration to follow! Textbook required.

Rock University

Saturdays, Sept. 17-Dec. 3, 2022 (no sessions on 10/15 or 11/26) from 9-11:30 a.m.

Ages: Junior high and high school students

Designed for the middle and high school students who play the guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and/or sing who are wanting to perform with a band and have performance opportunities. Players should have experience on their instrument. The program includes performance opportunities in local venues and the opportunity to create a recording in the Millitrax studio.

DIY Audio Recording Workshops

Thursdays, Sept. 29-Nov. 10, 2022 (no class 10/14)

Ages: 14+

Enjoy a total of 6 sessions that introduce students to sound mixing, creating songs and music, producing recordings, analyzing production techniques and integrating music technology workflows in the music-making process. Previous musical experience not required. Sign up for entire camp or per session if room.
