COVID-19 Update: Tier 3 Mitigations for Illinois

On November 17, Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that all of Illinois is moving to Tier 3 mitigations effective Friday, November 20 at 12:01 a.m. Millikin University will remain open. For the health and safety of our University, temporary guidelines are being implemented for many employees to work remotely, beginning Monday, November 23, 2020. Employees will continue to be paid their regular salary during this period. Employees who are designated “essential” in nature and who are needed on campus will be notified by their supervisors.

Supervisors will work with their teams to develop plans, assign work, determine deliverables and plan for accountability. The following applies to remote working:

  • University employees must be available to communicate during their normally scheduled work hours.
  • Supervisors must ensure they know how to reach each member of their team.
  • Together, supervisors and employees will determine work plans and deliverables.
  • A limited number of employees are needed to work on campus to ensure essential offices remain open.
  • Employees that are ill or choose not to work during this period may use their accrued sick or vacation time or if applicable, the Emergency Covid Sick Leave Time.
  • Student employees will be paid for hours they work remotely.
  • Supervisors should communicate with their employees as soon as possible.
  • Adjust phone voicemails if necessary. Phones should be forwarded to other departments or personal phones.
  • Payroll and Accounts Payable procedures and deadlines remain in effect. Please make sure that you plan accordingly.

As previously communicated, employees are asked to work from home the week of November 30th, if possible, except for “essential workers”. Please note, employees who have traveled to a hot spot over the Thanksgiving Holiday will be required to take a Covid-19 test and produce a negative test result before returning to work on campus. Information about testing at the Decatur Civic Center can be found here:  http://www.decaturciviccenter.net/events/455/free-covid-19-community-testing
