Dear students, parents and families:

Millikin University appreciates your patience as we continue to move forward with pro-rated refunds for spring term student housing and dining costs.

Refunds for room and board will be applied to student accounts beginning Monday, April 27, 2020. Refunds for both room and board will appear on the student account as “COVID-19 Relief Funds”. If the refund amount creates a credit balance on the student account, those balances will be sent back to the student beginning the first week of May.

Credit balances will be sent in the following manner:

  • Via direct deposit for those students who are already signed up for this option with the University.
  • Paper checks will be mailed to the student’s permanent address on file with the University for those who have not signed up for direct deposit.
  • International Students will be contacted individually about the method of the return of any credit balances.

NOTE: Students should log on to their MUOnline account to verify that the permanent address on file is correct. Student account questions may by directed to Student Financial Services at 217.424.6317 or studentfinancialservices@millikin.edu

As a reminder, see below for information on eligibility for the refund:

What housing options are eligible for a refund? All University-owned residence halls, apartments and the Woods at Millikin.

How much is the refund? Refunds will be issued up to 50% of room and board paid for the spring 2020 term. Refunds will be calculated based on when the student ceased actively living on campus.

Who is eligible? Students who have not actively lived in campus housing on or after March 23, 2020. Students who actively lived in campus housing after this date may be eligible for a partial refund pro-rated to their date of departure. These refunds will be calculated on an individual basis.

On behalf of Millikin University, I thank you again for your continued patience. We wish you a successful conclusion to the semester, and we look forward to welcoming you back to campus this fall.

Yours in Millikin,

Raphaella Prange
Vice President for Student Affairs
