It was on Aug. 21, 2017, that the new front door to Millikin University, the University Commons, was officially open to the campus and surrounding community.
The opening of Millikin University's "new front door," the University Commons, in August 2017 was a celebration of the building's technological and conceptual innovations.
Millikin University will dedicate its University Commons with a week-long celebration of events March 19-24. Millikin invites the local and campus community to join in the Week of Celebration as the University Commons becomes Millikin's new front door, crossroads and gathering place.
From campus-related concerns such as parking, food, housing and academics, to issues of national and international importance, Millikin students advocating for change have made their voices heard for more than 114 years by writing letters to the editor in The Decaturian. Students from around Illinois, aspiring to become teachers, had the opportunity to learn about the education field during the 4th annual Tomorrow's Teachers Conference hosted by the Millikin University School of Education on Oct. 26 on Millikin's campus.
The New Technologies Studio is one of many collaborative spaces within Millikin University's new University Commons. The studio is a space where students use technology to connect to the wider world and engage in Performance Learning activities.

This August the new front door to Millikin University's campus, the University Commons, opened. The $31 million University Commons blends together the Staley Library and student center functions into one central location, reconfiguring the existing library and infusing access throughout the 87,000 square-foot building.
