Last fall, students from Millikin University's Tabor School of Business traveled to Denmark to compete in an innovation competition titled "Experts in Teams," hosted by the Business Academy Aarhus. More than 400 students participated in the competition including six Millikin students.

Teacher Training

Dr. Chris Cunnings' journey to Millikin University has come full circle. An assistant professor of education, Dr. Cunnings is in his first year as a faculty member at Millikin, and he is working on taking Millikin's hands-on learning approach with STEM education to the next level.

Natalie Mendez, a senior international business and marketing major at Millikin University, is currently an Institute for Science Entrepreneurship Undergraduate Fellow.

As part of her fellowship, Mendez is working with Dr. David Horn, Millikin professor of biology, to help coordinate the Institute's Science Entrepreneurship Speaker Series. She is also leading efforts to implement social media strategies to increase awareness of the Institute and promote its events.

Valina Hoang, a senior marketing major at Millikin University, is a member of Millikin's Collegiate DECA Executive Committee as well as a member of University Center Board (UCB) and Student Senate.

Millikin's Collegiate DECA is the student chapter of the professional organization Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) and the only Collegiate DECA chapter in Illinois, providing opportunities for competition, networking and leadership development.

Millikin researchers study 3D-Printing Technology

3D-printing technology is paving the way for the low-cost design and fabrication of items. The technology is growing in many fields of research, including electrochemistry. As this scientific area continues to trend upwards, a pair of Millikin Leighty Scholars are researching how 3D-printing can be used to create electrochemical devices.

Career Change

Darrah Hulva '14 has taken a unique path to becoming a Master's Entry into Nursing Practice (MENP) candidate at Millikin University. A local product from Decatur, Ill., Hulva started her academic career at Millikin in 2010. She started as a nursing major and was very involved in campus activities as a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
