Millikin event showcases breadth and depth of Student Research and Creativity

It's a day when no classes are held, but it doesn't mean the learning stops.

Millikin University's Celebrations of Scholarship is the culmination of the academic year; an all-day event that puts the outstanding achievements of students from all majors front and center for the entire campus community to witness. It's a forum that not only recognizes academics, it honors personal success.

Campus community comes together to celebrate academic accomplishments

At the end of every April, the Millikin University campus community comes together to celebrate the academic accomplishments of its students at the annual Distinguished Faculty Lecture and Honors Convocation. This year's event, held on April 25, recognized the outstanding work of students and faculty during the 2018-19 academic year.

Nationally-acclaimed author to speak on opioid epidemic

Former L.A. Times reporter, storyteller and nationally-acclaimed author Sam Quinones will visit Millikin University on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. to give a talk on his most recent book, "Dreamland: The True Tale of America's Opiate Epidemic."

Dr. Julie Bates named recipient of 2019 Outstanding Dissertation Award in Technical Communication

Dr. Julie Bates, assistant professor of English at Millikin University, has been named the recipient of the 2019 Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) Outstanding Dissertation Award in Technical Communication for her dissertation, "Toward an Interventionary Rhetoric for Technical Communication Studies."

Dr. Stephen Widenhofer: Beloved teacher, administrator, friend and mentor

Millikin University is deeply saddened to announce the death of Dr. Stephen Widenhofer, professor of music, who served as director of the Millikin School of Music from 2003-2017. Dr. Widenhofer passed away on Jan. 1, 2019 at the age of 67.
