Window of Opportunity

The large library windows of Dennis Lab School in Decatur have seen some changes this spring. Earlier this April, artwork designed by Millikin University visual media students was installed on the library windows. The design reflects Dennis Lab School and the school's impact on the community.

Millikin senior art exhibit caps undergraduate studies

Millikin University student artists Shelby Truax and Michelle Holsapple will present their senior art exhibitions at the Perkinson Gallery in Kirkland Fine Arts Center on Millikin's campus April 9-14. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, April 9, from 1 – 3 p.m.; the reception is free and open to the public.

For several years, the faculty, students and leadership of Millikin have nurtured a dream to create a much-needed, new Center for the nationally recognized School of Theatre and Dance. The time to dream is over.

Millikin Wire: Trevor Stout

Trevor Stout, a sophomore at Millikin University, recently became a trumpet performance major and is engaging in opportunities to perform with ensembles and record in the studio.

Stout is currently in four ensembles within Millikin's School of Music, including the wind ensemble, jazz band and brass quintet.

The Decatur, Ill., native is amazed by the talent in the School of Music as well as Millikin's College of Fine Arts.

Millikin named among Top Performing Arts Schools for 2017

The Community for Accredited Online Schools, a leading resource provider for higher education information, has named Millikin University one of the Best Performing Arts Schools for 2017. The site also honored Millikin University's Registered Nursing (RN) Program as one of the Top 50 in the nation for 2017.

Graphic Design students awarded at Self Employment in the Arts Conference

The annual Self Employment in the Arts (SEA) Conference is an opportunity for faculty and students to attend workshops and share best practices in entrepreneurship as artists. This year's conference, held Feb. 24-25 in Lisle, Ill., featured the 8th annual SEA College Juried Art Show where Millikin students took home two awards.

Backstage Pass to Disney

It's hard to find anywhere else in the world that does design better than Disney, specifically shows, environments and experiences; so what better way to learn the elements of design than by seeing it first-hand through the Walt Disney World lens.

It's not often that theatre students collaborate with a professional playwriting team to develop a new musical production. The New Musicals Workshop, through Millikin University's School of Theatre and Dance, takes that process of collaboration to the next step, a step where students get insider access to writing and finessing works for the musical stage.
