Millikin University recognized student organizations, leaders and faculty at the 9th annual Student Development Leadership and Scholarship Awards Ceremony on May 3. The event honors programs and individuals that went above and beyond making the academic year a success and providing the Millikin community with visionary leadership.

Blue Brew partners with Hickory Point Bank to continue business in Fall 2017

Following a successful trial run, Millikin University and Hickory Point Bank & Trust are pleased to announce that Blue Brew, a Millikin student-run coffee venture, will continue as a food innovation and entrepreneurship laboratory starting in August 2017. The shop will be housed in the Hickory Point Bank & Trust building, located at 225 N. Water St. in downtown Decatur, Ill.

Millikin biology students win top awards at Tri-Beta Conference

Millikin University biology students earned the most awards at the 2017 Beta Beta Beta North Central 1 District Conference on April 22 at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

Led by research advisors Dr. Travis Wilcoxen, associate professor of biology, and Dr. Laura Zimmerman, assistant professor of biology, nine Millikin biology majors presented their research.

Millikin art students pay tribute to professor's brother

Students in Professor Lyle Salmi's Painting course at Millikin University study various concepts and techniques that are used in painting. The course emphasizes the development of skills and knowledge necessary to form a personal approach to expression through the medium of painting.

Academic achievements celebrated at Millikin Honors Convocation

Students and faculty members were honored for their excellence in teaching and learning during the 2017 Distinguished Faculty Lecture and Honors Convocation on April 27. The event is a time when the Millikin community comes together to celebrate earnest scholarship, dedicated inquiry and Performance Learning.

For one day on the Millikin campus students are given an opportunity to present a years' worth of achievements and research to the University-wide community; that day is Celebrations of Scholarship (COS).

The celebratory event, held on April 28, was a culmination of academic achievement that represented a vast array of subjects in the fine arts, sciences, business, nursing and more.

Millikin Vocal Jazz Ensemble wins DownBeat Magazine Student Music Award

OneVoice, the flagship ensemble of the vocal jazz program at Millikin University's School of Music, received a 2017 DownBeat Magazine Student Music Award for "Outstanding Performance for an Undergraduate College." The award will be cited in DownBeat Magazine's June 2017 issue.  

This is the 5th time OneVoice has received a DownBeat Magazine Student Music Award.
