Podeschi among 100 recipients nationwide to receive award

RJ Podeschi, assistant professor of information systems at Millikin University, was recently awarded the Love of Learning Award worth $500 presented by Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Podeschi is one of 100 recipients nationwide to receive the award.

Millikin students honored for demonstrated leadership and passion for entrepreneurship

Jesse Sargeant, a recent Millikin University graduate, and Martel McGee, a junior entrepreneurship major, were both honored as recipients of the Sharon T. Alpi Scholarship for Entrepreneurship Excellence during a recognition ceremony on Dec. 11 in ADM-Scovill Hall.

Art students craft chili bowls in support of Good Samaritan Inn

Art students from Millikin University used their creativity to help raise proceeds for a local community center as part of the annual Empty Chili Bowl Fundraiser on Dec. 8 in the University Commons Ballroom.

Millikin students created 130 ceramic chili bowls for the event. The bowls were sold for $10 each and profits went to the Good Samaritan Inn of Decatur, Ill.

Millikin graduates take the stage and embrace the future

More than 100 new Millikin University graduates took the Kirkland Fine Arts Center stage to receive undergraduate and graduate degrees during Winter Commencement on Sunday, Dec. 10. Graduates from Millikin's traditional undergraduate, Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree programs were honored during the ceremony.

Millikin hosts 84th Cookie Party

A long-standing tradition at Millikin University, the 84th annual Cookie Party was held for members of the University community on Wednesday, Dec. 6, in the University Commons Ballroom.

The event is held every year as a highlight and celebration for the holiday season at Millikin, as well as to give the students a boost before final exams are administered.

Tragicomedy portrays emotion through movement and physical acting

Millikin University's School of Theatre and Dance continues its 2017-18 performance season with "Wintertime," a production written by Charles L. Mee. Performances will be held at Albert Taylor Theatre Dec. 7-9. The show is directed by Kevin Hoffmann, assistant professor of theatre at Millikin.

Over 100 Millikin graduates to be honored Dec. 10

Millikin University will recognize over 100 graduates during its 2017 Winter Commencement ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. in Kirkland Fine Arts Center. Graduates from Millikin's traditional undergraduate, Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree programs will be honored during the ceremony.
