Millikin Tri Beta Chapter receives Outstanding Chapter Award

Students of Millikin University's Beta Beta Beta Biology Honor Society presented their research at the North Central-1 District Convention of Tri Beta at St. Xavier University on April 7. The convention featured six oral presentations and 29 posters for a total of 35 presentations from students representing eight institutions.

Biology major gears up for dental school by utilizing research opportunities

Allyson Isenhower knows exactly what she aspires to do post-graduation from Millikin University.  The junior biology major with a pre-dental concentration knows that her years spent on campus in labs, working on research projects and one-on-one studies with professors have efficiently prepared her for graduate school and her future career as a dentist.

Science Entrepreneurship Speaker Series focuses on job creation

The Millikin University Institute for Science Entrepreneurship (ISE), a signature program of Millikin's Center for Entrepreneurship, is pleased to announce its speaker series for the fall 2017 semester. This fall, all presentations will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the new University Commons on Millikin's campus. Presentations are free and open to the public, and no tickets or reservations are required.

Reptiles are known to be very tolerant of different bacteria such as Salmonella, says Millikin University biology major Whitney Gray. Past research has shown that reptiles rely on more innate immune spots rather than adaptive.

Millikin biology students win top awards at Tri-Beta Conference

Millikin University biology students earned the most awards at the 2017 Beta Beta Beta North Central 1 District Conference on April 22 at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

Led by research advisors Dr. Travis Wilcoxen, associate professor of biology, and Dr. Laura Zimmerman, assistant professor of biology, nine Millikin biology majors presented their research.

Biology student earns Best Poster Award at Sigma Zeta National Convention

Members of Millikin University's Pi chapter of Sigma Zeta attended the 2017 Sigma Zeta National Chapter Convention at Marian University in Indianapolis, Ind., March 23-25. Close to 170 students and faculty attended the convention.

Sigma Zeta is a national honor society for undergraduate students majoring in the natural sciences, computer sciences, or mathematics.
