Each spring, students from across Millikin University present the results of their research, scholarship and creativity through the university's annual Celebrations of Scholarship. Throughout the event, students showcase their scholarly and artistic accomplishments with new audiences, giving every member of the campus community an opportunity to share in the celebration of their achievements.

The Hollis Prize competition showcases and celebrates the best of the best among instrumentalists and vocal performers in Millikin University's School of Music. This year's competition, held on April 23 at Kaeuper Hall, marked the 20th anniversary of the prestigious honor giving spectators a special opportunity to witness the excellence of the School of Music and its students.

Millikin professor studies lead poisoning in birds of prey

America's bald eagle population has soared back after the species nearly went extinct several decades ago. But these birds of prey are being threatened once again. Bird flu has killed dozens of bald eagles this year and new research indicates that lead poisoning is also killing the birds.

Dr. Danielle Alesi to serve as scholar at Newberry Library's NEH Summer Institute

Dr. Danielle Alesi, assistant professor of history at Millikin University, has been named a Scholar-in-Residence at the prestigious Newberry Library in Chicago, Ill., where she will serve as a scholar this summer for the Newberry Library's National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Institute, "Mapping the Early Modern World."

Theatre students share insights into acting, costume design and set building

Students from Millikin University's School of Theatre & Dance, who took part in the production of "Romeo and Juliet" April 8-10, paid a visit to Eisenhower High School in Decatur [Ill.] on April 12 to not only put on a production but to share insights into costume design, set building and design, and vocations involved in the theatre.
