Hidden Mothers

The series, Hidden Mothers, comprised of photographic portraits and laser cut fabric, references the early usages of photography when exposure times were long. Mothers who wanted a record of their children would often hide themselves under a piece of fabric and hold their children for the duration of the exposure to ensure a sharp image. Each mother is wrapped in a floral bed linen that both elicits traditional notions of femininity and domestic spaces and recalls the memories that have been imprinted upon them from their own mothers.

A*C*E* Annual High School Art Exhibition

The Annual A.C.E. High School Art Show is an opportunity for local high school students to exhibit their work and to show off their incredible talents. In addition to the exhibition there are workshops for teachers and students, a parent/faculty round table for parents to speak with Millikin Art Faculty as well as opportunities for the students to hear from working art professionals.

Central Illinois High School Art Teacher Biennial Exhibition

Simon Levin "Lineage", Studio Conversations between Simon Levin & Apprentices

Simon Levin has been working in clay since 1990. He is a full time studio potter working exclusively with wood firing. His award winning work is exhibited internationally, and appears in several contemporary ceramic books. Simon is writer for many ceramic journals, and in 2013 he traveled to Taiwan as a Senior Fulbright scholar researching local materials. As a kiln builder Simon has built wood fired kilns for both US colleges and universities as well as schools in Taiwan and China. Between 2004 and 2018 his apprenticeship program has trained and influenced 17 potters.

BFA Thesis Exhibitions

The Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Thesis Exhibitions are the culmination of each student’s four years of work and dedication during their time at Millikin. On display will be a variety of artwork in various mediums such as painting, ceramics, sculpture, drawing, photography, printmaking, and graphic design.

Annual Student Art Show

The Annual Student Art Show features freshman through junior art students’ work. On display will be drawings, paintings, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design, prints, and photography. Each year the show is judged by a local artist who chooses awards for exemplary student work.
