Since leaving Millikin, Chris has been busy as a freelance bassist and educator in the Central Illinois area. He recently finished his Master's degree in Jazz at the University of Illinois in Champaign and is currently working on his Doctorate at the same University.

While studying at Illinois, Chris has become a staple of the Champaign-Urbana music scene. He also regularly performs throughout Illinois and the Midwest, including Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Louisville and Cincinnati, as well as New York and Toronto.

This past summer, Chris and his wife Catherine (BS '06) performed in Bali, Indonesia. Chris performs regularly with the esteemed faculty members at the University of Illinois and has had the privilege to work with Willie Akins, the Woody Herman Band, Slide Hampton, Stefon Harris, David "Fathead" Newman, Chuchito Valdez, Joel Spencer, Ron Perrillo, Eijiro Nakagawa, Marvin Hamlish, Monica Mancini, and The Maynard Furguson Birdland Dream Band and Big Bop Noveau Band.
