Robert (Bob) Smith is a graduate of Millikin University with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, and received his MBA in Finance from Michigan State University. He also graduated with honors from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
Bob has spend 40 years in commercial banking, beginning his career in international lending for a large regional bank. He and his wife, Cyndy, returned to their hometown of Decatur in the 1980s, where he has worked in community banking. Since 1995, Bob has been the President of Soy Capital Bank and Trust company, headquartered in Decatur, which consists of Soy Capital Ag Services, a farm management company, J.L. Hubbard Insurance and bonds, a commercial insurance agency, as well as the bank which has offices in five Central Illinois cities.
Bob currently serves on the Executive Board of the Lincoln Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America. His other community involvement has included the Board of Trustees of Millikin University, and boards of directors for Partners in Education, Project Success, Metro Decatur Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Decatur Public Schools Foundation, Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur Club, St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, Decatur Public Building Commission, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Coming Together Decatur.
