Doctoral Student at the University of Iowa
Psychology/Behavioral Sciences Department
Jeffrey Grimes graduated from Millikin in 2016 with his bachelor’s degree in psychology. After his experiences at Millikin, he obtained his master’s degree in counseling from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Currently, he is a doctoral student at the University of Iowa with professional goals of becoming a professor at a university like Millikin and helping students and athletes succeed.
For current and future students, Jeffrey gave this message:
If you are a student who is interested in MU and the psychology program, welcome! MU will always be home to me because of the learning environment created for students, professors that pushed me to become a better academic, and classes that solidified my decision to further my education. Opportunities that you could pursue while at Millikin include conference presentations at the local and national level, specific courses tailored to your career focus, and professors who will support your academic ventures, whether they be research, graduate school, volunteer experience, or specific career training. I came to Millikin to play a sport that I love and walked away with an experience and lifelong passion for academia within the field of psychology. Most importantly, the relationships made with professors, staff, and peers will always be with me.
Go Big Blue and best wishes in your journey at MU!
