Richard UnrathMemorial for Richard Unrath ’52

Richard A Unrath was born on May 26, 1930 to Emanuel and Lydia (Reiners) Unrath. He was baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection on June 15, 1930 and fell asleep in Christ Jesus on April 7, 2017. He attended Millikin University in Decatur Illinois receiving a Bachelor of Education degree. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in June 1952 and served for 28 years. During that time he served overseas four times and at multiple stateside bases. He met and fell in love with Anna Jean Raebel at Walther League and they married on January 1, 1954. They have been members of St Paul's Lutheran Church Des Peres since January 1981. Richard loved his God, his family, his country and his church where he was an active member. 

Richard leaves his wife of 63 years Jean and three children Thomas (Anita) Unrath, Timothy (Angela) Unrath and Linda (Randy) Dessau. He was brother to Kenneth (Ruth) Unrath and Marjorie Lang, brother in law to Dennis Raebel, grandfather to John Unrath, Megan Unrath, Ryan Unrath and Danielle Dessau. Granddaughter Nicole Unrath preceded him in death. He was also a loving uncle and faithful friend of many. 

Services: Funeral service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 12345 Manchester Road, Des Peres, Thursday, April 13th at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Des Peres, St. Paul's Lutheran School Des Peres or American Cancer Society. Visitation at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Wednesday, April 12th from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday at Church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
