Patricia Ann SalleeMemorial for Patricia Ann “Pat” King Sallee ’50

Patricia Ann “Pat” Sallee of Dunedin, FL, formerly of Largo, FL and Pana, IL, went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2018, at Suncoast Hospice Care Center after suffering a stroke the week prior. She died peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the age of 90 years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Lee “Bob” Sallee, in 2003, and her son-in-law, James M. Hammond, in 2017, who died at the age of 59.

Patricia, fondly known as Pat, was born in Pana, IL, on May 21,1928, to B.C. and Pauline King. She married Bob Sallee on August 6, 1950; they were married for 52 years and had one child, Polly Sue. Patricia spent her earlier years working at First National Bank and helping at the family business, one of Pana’s car dealerships, B.C. King Inc. (n/k/a Bob Ridings Pana). Patricia was a proud Pana High School Alum, Class of 1946. She enjoyed growing up in a small town with Pana’s close knit community, frequently attending gatherings with friends and neighbors. Pat was an active member at First Presbyterian Church of Pana (n/k/a United in Faith) throughout her life where she enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School.

Bob, Patricia, and Pauline spent many winters in Florida visiting their daughter and six grandchildren. In Florida, Bob and Pat were active associate members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, FL. Patricia moved full time to Florida approximately seven years ago. She lived a life of loving and sacrificial service to her large family.

Patricia was an only child and is survived by her only child, Polly Sallee Hammond of Dunedin, FL, her six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by Ruth Hammond Mast [Nolan], Aaron James Hammond [Lindsey Taylor] and their child Charlotte “Lottie” Eliza (1); Rachel Rocco [Christopher] and their children Mitchell Christopher (6), Sarah Grace (5), and Samuel George (1); Rebekah Hammond Dorworth [Christopher], their child Grace Caroline (1), and her step-children Madison (17) and Chris Jr. (15); Sarah Bijoy [Ranjit]; and Joshua Luke Hammond [Angelica Santiago].

A memorial service will be held in her honor this spring in her hometown of Pana, Illinois. A formal announcement to follow.
