Memorial for Janice Channels Pierce ’72
DECATUR -- Janice Lea Pierce
July 1, 1950 - July 27, 2018.
Born in Flint, Michigan to Lloyd and Vera Channels.
Surviving are her husband John, their son Eric (wife Andrea, grandson Xander) and son Adam (wife Jennifer, grandchildren Verity, Kaylee, and Michael), her brother Paul (wife Ruth), and sisters Luan and Noreen (husband Don).
Jan graduated from Millikin University in 1972. She and John married in 1972 and have always lived in Decatur, IL. She loved to volunteer whenever there was a need in the community. Jan loved being the financial secretary of our church and singing in the choir.
In her spare time she loved to crochet, and create cards of all types. Her handy works were a blessing to many people including newlyweds, newborns, and graduates.
Jan blessed many friends and family members with a beautiful smile and hug, genuine kindness, and extreme generosity. She was a great woman of character and integrity.
A memorial service will be held at 10am, Saturday August 25, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 1220 West Main Street, Mt. Zion, IL 62549, with lunch following at the church.
In lieu of flowers, John requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society’s, Hope Lodge, 4215 Lindell Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108.
