Jackie Leroy Miller Memorial for Jackie Leroy Miller ’61

Roy Miller, 79, of Vallejo, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 17, surrounded by his loved ones. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Jewel Miller.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Louise, and his daughter and son-in-law, Lori Miller and Pete Martinez.

Roy was born in Oklahoma and raised in Carmi, IL. After serving in the Army, Roy worked at Mare Island Navel Ship Yard, retiring in 1994 after 36 years of service. His last position was as a Budget Analyst in Shop 56. After retiring at MINSY, Roy worked for Guaranteed Carpet Cleaning and Dubinoff's. Roy's last employment was with Cirimele and Associates where he worked for 12 years in property management with his life long best friend, Mike Coakley.

Roy enjoyed sports but especially loved basketball, which he played for many years on local teams. His favorite time of year was the 4th of July. For many years, Roy would begin two months prior to July 4th decorating his backyard in his favorite red, white and blue. On the 4th he would celebrate with a large gathering of family and friends. It was a gathering that allowed him an opportunity to express his true love for his country, family and friends. It was a celebration loved not only by Roy, but by all who attended.

Roy was a parishioner at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Vallejo. After becoming a Catholic through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program in 1991, Roy became an RCIA and Youth Confirmation Catechist. For many years, he assisted adults who wished to join the Catholic faith and youth who wanted to obtain their Sacrament of Confirmation.

Funeral services for Roy will be held, Friday, May 26, at 11 a.m., at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Vallejo. He will be laid to rest at All Souls Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the memory of Roy to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Mary Knoll Society.
