Memorial for Leon Lippie ’05
Leon F. Lippie 69, of Decatur, IL passed away at 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018, in his residence.
A memorial service to celebrate Leon’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2018, in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3778 N. Water Street, Decatur, IL. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home is assisting the family with services. Military honors will be provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and the US Navy Honors Team. Memorials may be made to the church building fund of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Leon was born October 20, 1948, in East Chicago, IN the son of Lawrence A. and Kathryn (Wolf) Lippie. Leon had held many positions with manufacturing companies and most recently retired from URS at Caterpillar. He had served in the US Navy and was a Vietnam War veteran. Leon was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, a member of the Association of Facilities Engineers, Instrument Society of America, and American Legion Post #105. Leon married Ann Renee Merriman on October 1, 2005.
Surviving are his wife: Renee of Decatur; daughters: Kara J. Traut of Brownsburg, IN and Janna M. Tribby (Steve) of Indianapolis, IN; son: Brandon A. Lippie (Courtney) of Tampa, FL; mother: Kathryn Lippie of North Port, FL; granddaughter: Kaylin Traut; brothers: Mark Lippe (Marsha), Joe Lippe (Val), John Lippie, Matthew Lippie, and Andrew Lippie (Sheila); sisters: Yvonne Larson (Dale), and Annette Lippie; sister-in-law: Jane Lippie.
He was preceded in death by his father, brother: Paul Lippie, and brother-in-law: Tom Krawczykowski.
