Memorial for James Edward Johnson ’82
Rockford, Born January 19, 1960 in Lincoln, Illinois to James L. Johnson and Audrey (Belshaw) Johnson. Jim passed away unexpectedly on January 28, 2018. Married to Ronelle (Baxter) Johnson on November 6, 1993. Survived by wife Ronelle (Ronnie) Johnson, mother Audrey (Belshaw) Johnson, siblings Janis Johnson, Kathleen (Roger) Miller, Karen (Kerry) Keller, and John (Stephanie) Johnson, father-in-law Roger Baxter and sister-in-law Heidi Lundeen (Rob Olson) and nieces and nephews Natalie (Miller) Nelson, Meridith Miller, Elizabeth (Brian) Stigner, Kate (Jim) Mohan, Laura Keller, Abigail Johnson, Archer Johnson, Michael Lundeen, Anna Lundeen and great niece Audrey Jane Mohan. Predeceased by his grandparents, father James L. Johnson, mother-in-law Harriet Baxter, and his Newfoundland Ollie.
As a Boy Scout he was awarded the Order of the Arrow. Throughout high school he played football and was a talented trumpet player with the West High Jazz Band. Jim graduated from West High School in 1978. Attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois and graduated from College of Recording Arts in San Francisco, California. Upon his return to Rockford, Jim was very involved in Young Life as a Leader. Jim had a beautiful voice and was a well-known vocalist in the area. He had a passion for sound engineering and a desire to educate aspiring sound engineers through his foundation, HagarMass. Jim was a real estate appraiser for 20+ years and a licensed real estate agent and broker.
Jim was loved by many and will be missed by all. He will be missed most by his four footed best friend, Jake, a Newfie that will never be the same. Memorials to the family.
Visitation on Thursday, February 1, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and memorial service on Friday, February 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Road, Rockford, IL.
