William E. "Bill" Godbey ObituaryMemorial for William E. “Bill” Godbey ’71

SPRINGFIELD, IL - William E. "Bill" Godbey, 75, of Springfield, died at 2:02 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. 

He was born June 12, 1941, to Cecil and Virginia Simson (a/k/a Freda Dowell) Godbey and they preceded him in death.

He is survived by several cousins including, Willa and Nola, and dear friends, Father Gus Franklin and Deacon Martha Bradley.

Bill was employed as a social worker for the State of Illinois and City of Springfield. 

He was a member of St. Paul's Cathedral for 45 years where he served as a member of the Chapter, committee chair, and a youth group leader. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was very active in the Episcopal Food Pantry and generous to other organizations.

Visitation: 10–11 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at St. Paul's Cathedral.

Funeral Mass: 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at St. Paul's Cathedral with the Very Rev. Father Andrew Hook officiating. 

Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg, Ill.
