Memorial for Alice Turner Esque ’53

1930 - 2017

Alice Marie Esque, 86, died June 30, 2017 in Tempe, Arizona after a long illness. She had lived in Arizona for more than 25 years. Born in Wenona, Illinois on December 21, 1930, Alice who was known for her warm and engaging smile was an active resident of Sun Lakes Arizona, an avid golfer, and frequent bridge player. She retired from a long career as an accountant in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. Even in retirement she used her mathematical acumen and years of business experience to lead an investment club that traded actively in stocks and other investments. Alice spent many years in Central Illinois and then in Decatur, Illinois. She attended Millikin University. Alice is survived by two of her sons, Todd C. Esque (Lesley) and Timm J. Esque (Shelly) and one granddaughter, Jacquelin Esque and sister Jan McClelland. Alice was preceded in death by her son, Ty Esque (1983) and her older sister Pauline Imhoff. Alice was very close to her parents, Roy C. and Gladys Turner and while she lived in Illinois she and her sisters and their children regularly gathered. Each sister had three boys, creating a natural baseball team of nine grandsons. Her sons all loved natural history and exploring. All three attended college in Arizona and Alice was able to finance much of their education. In lieu of flowers the family requests that gifts be made in honor of Alice M. Esque to Banner Alzheimer's Foundation, 2901 N. Central Avenue, Suite 160, Phoenix, AZ 85012.
