Memorial for Sharon McFadden Bloomquist ’56

BLOOMQUIST, Sharon Lee (nee: McFadden), 82 of Lebanon, died Friday, December 22, 2017. Born to John and Cordelia (nee: Kincaid) McFadden on February 8, 1935 in Chicago, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Robert Bloomquist of Lebanon, one daughter, Diane (Ted) Saulnier of Loveland, OH, one son, Craig (Virginia) Bloomquist of Newtown, CT, one brother, James McFadden, three grandchildren, Christopher Saulnier, Benjamin Saulnier and Maxwell Bloomquist, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon grew up in Chicago, IL, where she developed her love for the Chicago Cubs and music. She won a music scholarship from Morgan Park HS and went on to Millikin University. While at Millikin, Sharon met Robert, whom she married January 11, 1958. The couple lived in Virginia (during Bob’s military service), Chicago, IL, Homewood, IL, Westport, CT, Massanutten, VA and Lebanon, OH. Through all the years Sharon enjoyed sharing her energy and enthusiasm for music through accompanying many groups and individuals on the piano. “Mrs. Hallmark,” the “Card Lady,” are several affectionate nick names for Sharon, for she sent out cards to her list of 100’s to commemorate their special occasions. In 2016, the lifelong dream of seeing her “Cubbies” win the World Series was finally fulfilled.

A memorial was held Tuesday, December 26 at Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Chapel. A service to celebrate Sharon’s remarkable life is planned for February in Massanutten, VA, and details will follow when final arrangements are made. Her family will miss her greatly, but look forward to their reuniting day, and are comforted in the knowledge that she is in the arms of our Lord.
