Memorial for Alisa Kelley Blanchette ’96

Alisa Kelley Blanchette

Alisa K. Blanchette, 43, of Manteno, passed away at her home on Tuesday (Nov. 14, 2017) as a result of breast cancer.

Surviving are her four beloved children, Luke, age 13, Addison, 11, Brooke, 9, and Kendall, 8; her mother, Carol Kelley Jackman; brother, Matthew Kelley; stepmother, Sally Kelley; stepfather, Robert Jackman; mother-in-law, Linda Blanchette; brother-in-law, Craig (Ann) Blanchette; sister-in-law, Carrie (Nathan) White; as well as many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Her husband, Cory, was killed while jogging on Nov. 1, 2011; and her father, Thomas L. Kelley, preceded her in death the following year.

Alisa was a graduate of Manteno High School and graduated cum laude from Millikin University, Decatur, with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She was named to the 1996 edition of "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges" and was in the James Millikin Scholars Honors Program. She was elected president of her social sorority, Alpha Lambda Delta, her senior year and received her Master of Science in Education from Olivet Nazarene University. She taught fourth and fifth grades in Manteno, Palos Hills and Chebanse. She currently served as village clerk in Manteno.

Throughout her years of cancer treatment, she was uplifted many times by those in the Manteno community who did small, caring things for her and her family, with food, cards and gifts. She was fiercely independent and hated to ask for help but did when necessary and was deeply grateful. Alisa was blessed with many friends who speak of her as loyal, brave, courageous, generous and, most importantly, exemplifying kindness. She was highly regarded as a teacher and her students and colleagues adored her. But above all else, Alisa's greatest joy in life was being a wife to Cory and mother to her four beautiful children.

Private services for family and close friends will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Manteno United Methodist Church. A celebration of her life event will be at a later date for the public to attend and pay their respects.

Memorials for the education of her children may be made to the "Alisa Blanchette Family Trust" in care of Homestar Bank, 303 Section Line Road, Manteno, IL 60950.
