I graduated from Millikin in 2020 with a B.A. in English Writing and with a minor in Philosophy/Pre-Law. While at Millikin, I participated in both Ethics Bowl and Moot Court, winning the John Williams Outstanding Moot Court Attorney Award in 2020. Millikin also awarded me the T. W. Samuels Pre-Law Student Award in 2019 and 2020. I owe my early success in and exposure to law to the attentive and dedicated Millikin Philosophy professors. I am now a first year J.D. candidate at Saint Louis University School of Law.
I graduated from Millikin in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and History. I also minored in Environmental Studies and Spanish. While at Millikin, I was awarded the J. Graham Provan History Scholarship, T. W. Samuels Pre-Law Student Award, and the Thomas W. & Mary R. Adney Memorial Award for Pre-Law Students. I was a member of the Moot Court team for two years, the Ethics Bowl team, and I was the captain of the Men’s Soccer team. Thanks to the dedicated faculty in the Philosophy Department, my courses at Millikin challenged my world view and reshaped my understanding of various philosophical concepts, the most impactful being my understanding of justice.
I graduated from Millikin University in 2019 with a B.A. in Philosophy. I worked closely with all of the philosophy faculty at Millikin and they provided me with an incredibly supportive and stimulating environment in which to become a better philosopher. Their tutelage factored greatly in giving me the confidence and philosophical rigor needed to pursue philosophy as a career. I now attend graduate school in philosophy at the University of Wisconsin, Madison as a graduate student in the PhD. Program.
I graduated in 2017 from Millikin with a BA in Philosophy/Pre-Law. I also studied musical theatre during my time at Millikin and was active in both SOTAD and the Philosophy department. I was the captain of the Ethics Bowl team and also participated in Moot Court for two years. After graduation, I moved to Boston and currently attend Boston University School of Law. I am on BU's mock trial team and will be participating in moot court this semester. I will be participating in a writing competition at the end of the semester and hopefully will gain a spot on Law Review or another law journal.
I graduated Millikin University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy/Pre-Law and Music with a Vocal Emphasis. I was a First Year Experience Mentor for Dr. Hartsock, one of the philosophy professor's, and I was captain of the Ethics Bowl Team, competed in Moot Court, and was Chief Justice of Moot Court my senior year. After graduation, I moved to Springfield, Illinois, where I worked for the Legislative Research Unit of the Illinois General Assembly for one year doing nonpartisan legislative research for the state legislators.
I graduated from Millikin in 2014 with a B.A. in Philosophy and I am currently a second year J.D. candidate at the University of Illinois College of Law. During my first year, I was an intraschool finalist in the ABA’s Negotiations Competition, and a semifinalist in Client Counseling. I am currently a teaching assistant for a first year torts class and a member of the University of Illinois Journal of Law, Technology & Policy. I’ve had opportunities to gain experience through substantive pro bono projects related to criminal records and environmental law. This past summer, I externed for a federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Career Field Academic Philosophy
I graduated in 2014 with a B.A. in Philosophy. I was awarded the Alice Ambrose Lazerowitz Award in Philosophy and the Scovill Award in 2013. The philosophy department at Millikin is a highly supportive environment, and I absolutely loved my professors. The excellent instruction that I received at Millikin directly influenced my decision to study philosophy at the graduate level. I’m currently a PhD candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I received an M.A. in Philosophy in 2017. I was awarded a competitive two-year University Fellowship at Wisconsin, and I was one of fifty-one students nationally to receive a Phi Kappa Phi fellowship in 2014.
I am a 2013 Millikin University graduate now working as a corporate Associate in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. My practice focuses on complex business transactions, including the representation of private equity sponsors and other clients in connection with mergers, acquisitions and divestitures and counseling clients on a variety of general corporate matters. Prior to joining Kirkland, I graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where I served as the Articles Development Editor of the Virginia Sports & Entertainment Law Journal.
I graduated from Millikin in 2013 with a major in English Writing and a minor in Political Science. During my time at Millikin, I was an active participant in Moot Court. After graduating from Millikin, I attended Northern Illinois University where I graduated Magna Cum Laude and was awarded the Francis G. Mays Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Criminal Law, Procedure, and Evidence. While at NIU I was an Assistant Editor for the Northern Illinois University Law Review and the Vice President of the Women’s Law Caucus. After graduating from NIU, I passed the July 2017 bar exam.
I graduated summa cum laude from Millikin in 2012 with a B.A. in Philosophy and a minor in Political Science. I received the Alice Ambrose Lazerowitz Philosophy Award in 2012. I took a few years after graduation to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up, and it was thinking back to my time studying Philosophy and Law at Millikin that motivated me to go to law school. I am currently in my second year at James E. Rogers College of Law (University of Arizona) and will graduate in 2019. I am in the Distinguished Scholars program at the law school and have received a full ride for all three years.
