Millikin University invites applicants for the position of Adjunct English Instructor for the 2023–2024 Academic Year. Adjuncts can expect to teach in our University Studies writing program, specifically EN 181: University Writing; other courses may be available to teach based on department need and adjunct qualifications.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Teach courses, primarily EN 181, as assigned by the department.
Maintain regular office hours to assist students. Respond in a timely fashion to student correspondence, including student e-mails.
Assess student performance.
Maintain a professional attitude with all students, faculty, and staff.
Qualifications: This position requires a Master’s, MFA or doctoral degree in English, literature, rhetoric/composition, or creative writing, along with a record of excellence teaching first-year writing. Candidates with a doctoral degree in rhetoric/composition or a related field and a record of teaching excellence may also be eligible to teach EN 281: Writing in the Disciplines.
