Millikin Alums win Jeff Awards in Chicago

Infamous Commonwealth Theatre, a professional Chicago theatre company co-founded by several Millikin alumni, received three Jeff Awards (Chicago's Tony Award) for their work on The Kentucky Cycle. The company received best director awards (Genevieve Thompson (Hurst) '99 & Jason Kae '98), best ensemble (featuring Stephen Dunn '96 and Laura Ciresi '99) and best production of a play. The company also received a best supporting actor nomination for The Kentucky Cycle, and Stephen Dunn '96 was nominated for best supporting actor for his role in ICT's production of Cloud 9. The Kentucky Cycle was also honored with three After Dark Awards last fall for Direction, Ensemble and Fight Choreography.

Renovations continue in Albert Taylor Hall

After performances in March of The Great God Brown utilizing the newly installed lighting grid and dressing rooms as part of the structural upgrading, Albert Taylor Theatre was once again closed to permit phase two of renovations. Expected to be completed in Fall of 2006 the theatre will have new seating, draperies, paint, lighting fixtures, raked flooring, sound system, and carpeting. Many donors have generously supported this ongoing project.

Mueller Hall Comes Down

After being closed in August of 2004, demolition began on June 14 of Mueller Hall, former home to the Department of Theatre and Dance. The land now is currently being regraded with new landscaping. See photos by B.J. Warren.
