Malcolm Moore

Malcolm Moore, Jr. has taught elementary and middle school students in the Decatur Public Schools for thirty-one years and is currently the curriculum coordinator at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. In addition to serving as cooperating teacher for more than 15 student teachers, Mr. Moore supervised student teachers for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for six years. He has co-authored three articles for Illinois History Teacher, published lesson plans on law and the Constitution through CRADLE (Center for Research and Development in Law-Related Education) at the Wake Forest University School of Law, and leads professional development workshops on teaching middle schools and mentoring novice teachers. A winner of the Illinois State Board of Education’s Award of Excellence, Mr. Moore was a finalist for Illinois Teacher of the Year in 1996. That same year, the Illinois Sate Organization of the D.A.R. honored him as its Outstanding Teacher of American History. At Millikin, Mr. Moore teaches Young Adolescents and the Schools and Middle School Philosophies and Practices.
