Millikin Orchestra Workshop
Wednesday, September 27, 2017: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Millikin University, Kirkland Fine Arts Center, 1184 W Main Street, Decatur Il 62522
Bring your high school string players to join with others from around the state to explore the music of Beethoven and “jump-start” their All-State audition preparation. Your students will perform with Millikin applied faculty and members of the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra, be immersed in Beethoven’s distinctive musical style, and learn the techniques and musical approaches necessary to capture that character in their All-State audition excerpts. The day culminates in a concert by the workshop orchestra featuring Coriolanus Overture, the 2nd movement of Symphony No. 7, and selected movements from Beethoven’s Septet in E-flat major performed by a Millikin faculty ensemble. Bowed sheet music with fingerings will be available online for download in August. Registration fee: $10 per student (includes lunch). Deadline: September 1, 2017. Transportation scholarships will be available to schools bringing 20 or more students. Contact Georgia Hornbacker for additional information. email@example.com
