The commercial music curriculum is
designed to prepare the student for a career in the creative side of
the music industry.
This program of study provides flexibility and breadth through its generous
electives requirement [12-15 credits]. One option is to select classes
that define predetermined career "tracks." These include writing/arranging,
recording studio technology, and jazz/commercial performance. Another would
be to develop your own career "track" based on your special talents
and interests. Many of our graduates continue on to graduate programs in
music performance, jazz studies, or recording engineering. Others assume
jobs in the music industry. Some work a "day job" to support
their artistic ambitions as songwriters and performers. The commercial
music degree requires a minimum of 126 credits.
