Frank DeMiero
We all know that Frank’s career started with his playing accordion. Thank God it blossomed from there! Frank played drums in Olympic College Jazz Band and studied voice/conducting with Ralph Manzo. He has a BA degree in Education from Eastern Washington University and Masters in Conducting from Central Washington University. The Frank DeMiero Jazz Camp served over 6000 students during its 25 years. Frank’s choral groups from Mountlake Terrace High School and Edmonds Community College have received international acclaim. Recognized internationally for his innovations in all areas of music education, Frank is in demand as a guest conductor, adjudicator, clinician and motivational speaker. He currently conducts the Seattle Jazz Singers and the Sno-King Community Chorale. Dave Frishberg dubbed DeMiero “the Vince Lombardi of Vocal Jazz.” Frank is co-founder of Sound Music Publications.
Ken Kraintz
Considered one of the first published composers/arrangers of vocal jazz, Ken has taught all levels from grade school through university. His jazz choir from Cascade High School (Everett, WA) performed at the IAJE International Conference in 1974, becoming the first high school jazz choir invited to perform for this prestigious organization. Guest conductor for honor groups throughout the United States and Canada, he received his BA in Education and Masters in Composition from Central Washington University (Ellensburg, WA). Ken continues to play professionally on trumpet, is assistant director and performs with the Seattle Jazz Singers, is in demand as an adjudicator and clinician, and is co-founder of Sound Music Publications.
