Millikin Office of Residence Life recognized with "Outstanding Project" Award
Millikin University’s Office of Residence Life received the "Outstanding Project" Award at the 2012 Great Lakes Association of College and University Housing Officers (GLACUHO) Conference. The conference was held Nov. 4-6 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The award is presented to recognize and share an outstanding project developed by a GLACUHO institution and implemented during the previous academic year for its residence hall community.

The award recognized the service learning component of Millikin’s Living-Learning Communities (LLC) program, namely the "LLC Service Games." This event began last year and will become an annual spring event where all residents of the Living-Learning Communities participate in service projects and compete for the most hours of service.

"We have been extremely proud of the work of our residential Living-Learning Communities for many years," remarked Molly Berry, Millikin director of residence life. "It is wonderful to have them, and it is great to have them recognized on a regional level."

Millikin University’s Living-Learning Communities provides focused living environments geared to certain topics and commonalities between Millikin University students. The communities are built around a particular interest or connection that creates enhanced living experiences for all participants.

GLACUHO is a regional branch of the Association of College and University Housing Officers. Each year, GLACUHO gives institutional awards to its four-state region to recognize outstanding efforts. The GLACUHO 2012 Conference focused on "Engaging with Purpose" and providing opportunities for individuals to reflect on their work, and build relationships with colleagues.
