Millikin University was recognized once again by U.S. News & World Report as one of the leading institutions in the country.
The 2014 edition of "America's Best Colleges" ranks Millikin as the No. 13 Regional College in the Midwest
. There are a total of 367 Regional Colleges ranked within four regions: North, South, Midwest and West. Millikin was also included in a list of more than 300 schools from across the country designated as "A-Plus Schools for B Students."
"Millikin University's ranking by U.S. News & World Report is one more recognition of the excellence of a Millikin education," said Millikin University Interim President Dr. Patrick E. White. "Through our unique commitment to performance learning – our faculty effectively combining theory and practice, encouraging collaborative student-led research, and with dedicated staff instilling in every student the skills and disposition to engage in democratic citizenship in a global environment – Millikin students are actively engaged in their own transformation as they practice a life of meaning and value."
For the majority of the 20-plus years that Millikin has participated in U.S. News & World Report's "Best Colleges" publication data collections, Millikin has been ranked in the top 18 or higher.
U.S. News & World Report's rankings are based on a number of factors including undergraduate academic reputation, retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, and graduation rate performance. The rankings being released in this edition are based on information submitted by schools on various factors from multiple academic years.
Millikin University is a private, comprehensive university with a diverse student population of approximately 2,300 undergraduate and graduate students. A Millikin education features "performance learning," a unique learning approach offering students the chance to build the confidence to succeed before and after graduation. Students choose from more than 50 majors from the College of Fine Arts, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Professional Studies and Tabor School of Business. Millikin is located on a 75-acre residential campus in Decatur, Ill.
