The Millikin University Concert Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform in concert on Wednesday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Albert Taylor Theatre. The concert is free and open to the public.

The performance will kick off with the University Concert Band, led by Dr. Sharon Huff, adjunct associate professor of music. Musical selections will include “Sun Dance” and “Amazing Grace” by Frank Ticheli, “Pas Redouble, op. 86” by Camille Saint Saens, “Fanfare Nueve” by John Fannin, and “Rejouissance” by James Curnow.

The Symphonic Wind Ensemble will follow with performances of “Nitro” by Frank Ticheli, “Trauersinfonie” by Richard Wagner, “Solitary Dancer” by Warren Benson, and “Theme and Variations, Opus 43a” by Arnold Schoenberg. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble is directed by Dr. Gary Shaw, professor of music.

“Our concerts are a great way to showcase some of Millikin’s finest musicians in a relaxed setting,” remarked Shaw. “The variety of music is sure to please classical music lovers of any age.”

Millikin’s Concert Band is focused on developing a student's independent musicianship and artistry while performing high quality and challenging band music.  The Symphonic Wind Ensemble is Millikin's premiere large instrumental ensemble. Both groups are open to all Millikin students by audition and perform on campus twice each semester. In addition, the groups frequently tour public schools throughout the Midwest.
