The concert will also feature the Millikin University Jazz Band fresh off their January appearance at the Jazz Education Network National Conference in Atlanta, Ga. The Millikin University Jazz Band is under the direction of Randall Reyman, associate professor of music.

Currently in its fifth year, the Marine Corps All-Star Jazz Band is an 18-member ensemble featuring Marines from various Marine Corps Installations throughout the United States and Japan including: Okinawa, Japan, Quantico, Va., Norfolk, Va., Camp Lejeune, N.C., Parris Island, S.C., San Diego, Calif., and Miramar, Calif.

In 2009, the group recorded a CD titled “Play with Honor,” featuring a mix of traditional and contemporary jazz selections, as well as an original by one of the band members and a stirring jazz rendition of “The Stars and Stripes Forever.” The group has recently performed at the Lakeside Jazz Festival in Daytona Beach, Fla.; the Northern Michigan University Jazz Festival in Marquette, Mich.; and a special performance at Northwestern University featuring jazz director and Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra member Victor Goines.

This year’s tour will feature performances throughout Chicago, Ill., southern Wisconsin and St. Louis, Mo. including concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Northshore Jazz Festival at Glenbrook South High School, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), and the Illinois Music Educators Association Conference featuring guest artist and composer Michael Phillip Mossman.
