The Millikin University Department of Theatre & Dance will present Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” on Friday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center.

The timeless enchantment of a classic fairy tale is reborn with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella.” Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, “Cinderella” was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Experience the charm and elegance of this magical story as it comes to life on the Kirkland stage.

Written by one of Broadway’s most iconic and successful writing teams, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, “Cinderella” has been produced three times for television audiences starring Julie Andrews, Leslie Ann Warren, and most recently, Brandy. “Cinderella” will open for the first time on Broadway in February 2013.

Prior to the performance on Sunday, Nov. 11, the Millikin University Department of Theatre & Dance will host “Cinderella Tea Party” beginning at 12 noon in the lower level of Richards Treat University Center. Complimentary tea and perks will be provided, and all those in attendance will meet the characters of the show before the matinee performance. The tea party is for children to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. Tickets for the tea party are $12 and may be purchased at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center Box Office by phone at 217.424.6318.

Tickets for the performance of “Cinderella” are $12-$19.50 and may be purchased at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center Box Office, by phone at 217.424.6318 or online at www.kirklandfinearts.com. The Kirkland Fine Arts Center Box Office is open Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and three hours prior to every Kirkland performance. A $2.50 fee will be charged for credit card purchases. This is a per transaction fee, not per ticket, and applies to online and Box Office orders.

Events at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and the Midwest Arts Council.
